Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former coach his previous coach.
Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after March of that year.
The win also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on court had prompted some to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.
However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved serve.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five games to take the lead.
The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.
Moutet rescued four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, he earned the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
