Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.
